An Egyptian administrative court has suspended the country’s preliminary safeguard duty on billet and rebar imports, according to reports. The Egyptian government imposed a 15 percent safeguard duty on steel billet imports and 25 percent duty on reinforcing bar imports for a period of 180 days starting from April 15. Egypt imposes provisional safeguard duty on billet and rebar imports

Temporary tariffs imposed in Egypt
Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade announced that; temporary tariffs have been imposed to protect domestic reinforcing steel bar manufacturers. The 7.3 percent tariffs will last for a maximum of 200 days, but could eventually be made permament, the ministry said.
