The United States Department of Commerce published the preliminary results of its administrative review of the antidumping duty (AD) order on reinforcing bar exports from Mexico. For Tyasa or TA 2000 the antidumping duty was 22.27 percent and for some companies of Grupo DeAcero it was 8.88 percent.

“The US Department of Commerce preliminarily finds that DeAcero and Ingeteknos Estructurales (Ingetek) (collectively, Deacero Group); and TA 2000 (or Tyasa) sold steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) from Mexico at less than normal value during the period of review, November 1, 2022, through October 31, 2023,” the DoC reported.

The review period was from November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2023. Of the 13 sanctioned companies, the authority rescinded this administrative review for certain companies and thus two mandatory respondents were chosen, which included three companies: Deacero SAPI de CV, Ingeteknos Estructurales and TA 2000.

The authority intends to disclose the calculations made in relation to these preliminary results to interested parties within five days from the date of publication of this notice.
Exporting companies not covered in this administrative review will have a rate published for the most recently published segment.

SE said imports of the product, which falls under HS codes 7213.91.03 and 7213.99.99, will continue to be subject to a 41 percent AD levy. The decision follows a request from domestic producers Ternium Mexico, Deacero and TA 2000, formerly known as Talleres y Aceros, in August 2020. The extended antidumping duties are effective from 11 December, 2021, onward.
